I want to contribute. What do I do?
Please complete the Contributor Interest Form (if it is still open). Rank your top 3-5 topics you might want to write about and tell me a little about something that comes to mind for you for each. I will be reaching out to all form submitters with next steps.
What does a contributor get for contributing to the book?
Contributors who are selected for publication in the book will receive a free copy of the book. They will also have their name and vignette included in the book. Contributors may also benefit from marketing efforts as the book and its contents are shared on social media and at events. Contributors will also have Wanda's deep appreciation for being a part of this project!
Do contributors have to sign a contract?
Once your vignette has been approved for inclusion in the book, there will be a contract that needs to be signed from the publisher to give the publisher the exclusive right to publish, distribute, and sell the work (all formats) worldwide.
What are some of the guidelines for the contributions?
I don't want to go into too much detail on the website but I will send contributors a guide and a video that will answer many questions and give lots of ideas.
In general, the goal of each 350-500 word vignette is to move beyond war stories and provide actionable insights with each piece bridging the gap between a personal experience and a specific educational theory, strategy, or belief. In addition to the story, contributors will specify the pedagogical connection and will provide a one-sentence pedagogical takeaway.
This is not a how-TO book although contributors will certainly be sharing tips and will explain activities and approaches. This is a how-DID book where practitioners can share things they have experienced, reflect upon the lessons learned, and consider how other teachers can apply that wisdom to their own practice.
How is the book going to be structured?
The book is still developing but it will have an introductory chapter after some acknowledgments. Next are four sections, each with three chapters (three of the topics). The start of each chapter has statement that helps to set the frame for the topic followed by some information I will be contributing about the topic. I will share my own vignette to be followed by the vignettes of the contributors for that topic. I will end the chapter will a short summary and some reflection questions the reader could use to connect with the topic based on their own expereince. After four sections (twelve chapters), there will be a concluding chapter where I tie some things together and close it out. After that there will be an index that will help readers find different vignettes that connect to different pedagogical concepts in hopes they can revisit certain passages when needed.
Can I write more than one vignette?
After one vignette is done and submitted, if there is a need you may be asked if you are interested in submitting a vignette on another topic from your list.
Can I use a Generative AI tool as I write?
I am comfortable with you using your Generative AI tool of choice for brainstorming & planning but I really want YOUR words when it comes to the writing. Generative AI can be useful for suggesting possible revisions but YOU do the revisions. I really don't want the book to be written by a Generative AI tool. I want YOU to have the sense of accomplishment when you see your writing in print.
There are pedagogical connections listed for each of the topics but I want to write about a different one. Can I?
The pedagogical connections listed for each topic are just a starting point. You can definitely highlight another as long as the connection to the topic is applicable.
Coming soon.
The plan is to have a Book Study Guide available as well as links to research regarding the various topics. Links to information about the contributors will likely be included (socials, websites, etc).
Definitely NOT there yet but I expect the book will be on Amazon.
The publisher is X-Factor EDU and they handle the distribution. You can find other books from these fabulous writers here.
